Fashion Photography Lighting basics: Tungsten and daylight combined

This image for an ad campaign was shot in an old villa in Miami. In order to emphasize the girl in the shot I played with color temperatures. At first, there was not quite as much sun as we were hoping for and we were just getting ready to simulate sunlight by placing strobes outside....

Fashion Photography Lighting basics: Late afternoon fashion shot

A simple but classic catalog shot. I chose to shoot this in a strong sidelight (actually almost a backlight) to emphasize the knitwear texture. The three things you have to watch out for in a shot like this are color temperature, contrast and a good balance of  light on the models’s face.
